RECOMMENDED — not currently owned. The HB-10G cannot produce high-gain metal tones from its preamp alone. A distortion pedal is essential. Keep amp gain at 3-4 when using this pedal, and set amp bass/treble as indicated above.
The HB-10G is a 10W practice amp with a single-knob EQ (no mid, no presence, no reverb) and minimal preamp gain — it cannot reach Sabaton's high-gain JCM800/Rectifier territory on its own. With the RECOMMENDED distortion pedal, drop amp gain to 3-4 so the pedal is the sole gain source. Your HSS Strat's ceramic bridge humbucker approximates the EMG 81's output but is brighter — the pedal's Tone at 6 compensates. Without the pedal, max the amp's gain but expect only a crunchy overdrive, not metal saturation.
