01Behringer SF300 Super Fuzz (Fuzz Factory substitute)
Set to Mode 2 (gated fuzz). If you have a different Behringer fuzz/distortion, max the gain and back off tone slightly. The Fuzz Factory's sputtery gated character is hard to replicate exactly — aim for aggressive, sustained fuzz.
02DigiTech Whammy or Pitch Shifter
RECOMMENDED — not currently owned. Set to +1 octave (or +2 octave harmony). Essential for the iconic riff sound. Engage only during the main riff, disengage for verses. A Behringer US600 Ultra Shifter or similar pitch pedal gets you close.
Your Squier Strat's single coils are significantly lower output and brighter than Bellamy's high-output humbuckers. I raised treble to 7 and mid to 6 to compensate for the Strat's natural scoop and add the aggressive bite. Amp gain is set low at 3 because the fuzz pedal is your primary gain source — stacking amp dirt on top of fuzz creates mud. ISF at 3 o'clock gives you the British Marshall-style mid bark. The ID:Core's OD1 channel provides a clean-ish platform that lets the fuzz define the character.
