Why these settings

The Champion 20 is a solid-state Fender with scooped, American-voiced EQ. The original tone is British-crunch with prominent upper-mids around 2-3kHz. I pushed mid to 7 (vs a typical AC30 setting of 5) to compensate for the Fender scoop, and cut treble to 5 because your Les Paul's humbuckers are already warmer and darker than the Telecasters Lovejoy uses — this prevents muddiness without adding harshness. Gain at 7 on Voice 2 gets you into crunch territory; the Champion breaks up softer than a tube amp, so dig in with your pick.

PRO TIPRoll your tone knob to 7 and attack the strings hard with a stiff pick near the bridge — Lovejoy's rhythm tone gets its urgency from aggressive picking dynamics, not gain. On chord stabs, mute immediately after the hit to keep the tight, percussive feel.
