01Tube Screamer (TS9 or clone)
RECOMMENDED — not currently owned. Essential for tightening the low-end on high-gain settings and adding midrange focus. Run into amp input.
02Noise Gate (Boss NS-2 or similar)
RECOMMENDED — not currently owned. Critical for controlling noise at max gain and achieving tight palm-mute stops.
The GA-20 is a small practice amp with limited gain saturation compared to a Dual Rectifier — you will not achieve the same level of compression and sustain. Gain is maxed to compensate. Mids scooped to 3 for the nu-metal character; bass pushed high but the small speaker will not reproduce the Rectifier's sub-bass thump. A Tube Screamer in front is essential to tighten flubby low-end and add the midrange cut that makes palm mutes defined.
