RECOMMENDED — not owned. This pedal provides the necessary overdrive/sustain the SVT cannot produce on its own.
The SVT Classic is a bass amp with no guitar overdrive and an EQ designed for low-end clarity, not mid-forward guitar voicing. I've pushed mids to 7, cut bass to 4 (vs original 5) and treble to 3 (vs original 6) to prevent muddiness and harsh highs from the SVT's bass-optimized voicing. A Tube Screamer or similar overdrive pedal is mandatory to provide the gain and sustain the recording has. Without it, you'll get clean, bassy guitar — not Slash's lead tone.
