Why these settings

The Ampeg SVT Classic is a bass amplifier — it has no preamp distortion voiced for guitar and lacks presence/reverb controls found on guitar amps. The EQ is voiced for bass frequencies (low at 40Hz, mid at 600Hz, treble at 4kHz), so I raised the mid control to 7 to compensate for Dimebag's 'scooped' tone actually needing SVT's 600Hz region for guitar body. Gain stays low at 2 because the SVT's preamp will not produce usable guitar distortion; ALL your dirt must come from a dedicated distortion pedal. Your Ibanez GRG's Infinity humbuckers are hot and will push a distortion pedal hard, similar to Dimebag's high-output Bill Lawrence pickups.

PRO TIPDimebag's pick attack was central to his tone — use a heavy pick (1.0mm+), anchor your palm lightly on the bridge for tight chugs, and strike the strings hard and close to the bridge for that percussive 'clank' that cuts through the scooped mids.
