Why these settings

The Pathfinder 10 is a 10W solid-state practice amp with no breakup headroom—it cannot replicate the JCM800's pushed midrange crunch on its own. Amp gain is set low (2) because ALL overdrive must come from pedals; any higher and stacking will mud out. Treble at 5 compensates for your Strat's brighter single coils vs the Jazzmaster's warmer humbucking output. Without any pedals, you will only get a clean foundation—the TS9 is non-negotiable for this tone.

PRO TIPRoll your Strat's neck pickup tone knob to 6 to approximate the Jazzmaster's darker, rounder wound-string response. For the fuzz sections, engage the Big Muff and dig in with your pick near the neck—the Pathfinder's speaker will compress naturally at higher volumes, adding some thickness.
