01ProCo Rat 2 or Boss DS-1 Distortion
RECOMMENDED — not currently owned; to capture the heavy low-mid saturation cleanly without solid-state fizz
02Digital Reverb / Delay
RECOMMENDED — not currently owned; adds the atmospheric soundtrack ambience
The Fender Frontman 20G features a 3-band EQ (Gain, Bass, Middle, Treble) but lacks built-in reverb and presence knobs. To get close to the heavy, moody soundtrack tone with single-coil pickups, engage the Drive channel with Gain at 7 and roll your Strat tone knob down to 7 to remove sharp glassiness. If you add a distortion pedal later, switch the Frontman to the Normal clean channel with gain low.
