Why these settings

The Frontman 20G is a practice solid-state amp with limited gain on tap — Kenny's tone comes from cranked tube heads plus an HM-2 stacking into a wall of cabinets. I maxed the Frontman's gain and pushed bass +2 over a typical metal setting because the small speaker lacks low-end authority. The scooped mid (4) mimics the doom-metal character but isn't cut further because the Frontman already lacks mid presence. A distortion pedal is mandatory to approach this tone.

PRO TIPTune down to B standard (B-E-A-D-F#-B) if your JS12 can handle .012-.054 strings — the song's crushing weight comes from that low tuning. If you stay in E standard, play the riffs an octave position higher and accept a brighter, thinner result.
