| Knob | Setting (0–10) |
|---|---|
| Gain | 6 |
| Bass | 6 |
| Mid | 5 |
| Treble | 7 |

| Master | 4 |
01Boss SD-1 Super Overdrive
Clean boost tightening the front end of the amp
02MXR M108S Ten Band EQ
Between boost and amp input to sculpt punchy 1-2kHz attack and tighten extreme sub-lows
03Boss NS-2 Noise Suppressor
Clamps down high-gain hiss and ensures dead-stop palm mutes
The Line 6 Spider IV Metal Red model emulates a Peavey 5150, but runs inherently gain-heavy and fizzy on its top end. Keeping amp gain at 6 and hitting it with the SD-1 as a level boost gives tight, fast palm-mute tracking without mush. The MXR 10-band EQ pushes 1kHz-2kHz slightly to supply the metallic hardcore pick attack while rolling off sub-bass rumble before hitting the Spider's preamp. Note: the Spider IV 75 faceplate does not feature a dedicated presence knob, so presence is null.
