Shoot to kill amp settings — Line 6 Spider iv 75

The Peelingflesh guitar tone for “Shoot to kill”, dialed in for a Line 6 Spider iv 75 with a Kramer Striker HSS. Studio version, The G Code (2022) — brutal death metal/slam

Original rig

Peelingflesh uses 5150-style high-gain amps (EVH 5150/6505 family), 7-8 string guitars with active EMG or Fishman pickups, drop tuning (A or lower), tight gate, and minimal effects — raw slamming deathcore tone with scooped mids and massive low-end chug

Ultra-tight scooped brutal slam with percussive low-end chug, cutting high frequencies for pick attack, and surgical precision from active pickups and noise gate

01Boss SD-1 Super Overdrive

Use as a tight boost in front of amp — low drive keeps it from adding mud, level pushes the front end for tighter response, tone rolled up for pick clarity. This compensates for your HSS Kramer's lower output vs active pickups

Why these settings

The Spider IV Insane channel is the closest to a 5150/6505 high-gain voicing. Gain at 7 (not maxed) prevents fizz — the Insane channel saturates early. Mids scooped to 3 for the signature slam chug; bass at 6 and treble at 7 for the percussive low-end and cutting attack. The SD-1 running low-gain into the front tightens the low-end response significantly, mimicking the tube screamer boost that's standard in modern metal rigs. Your Kramer's passive HSS bridge humbucker has less output than the active EMGs used on the original, so the SD-1 boost is essential for reaching that compressed, tight response.

PRO TIPPalm-mute directly over the bridge saddles (not further up the strings) for maximum percussive thud on the chugs — slam riffs live and die by mute placement. Pick hard and close to the bridge for that clicky attack that cuts through the scooped mids.
