Why these settings

The Champion 20 is a modeling amp, so we select the 'British' voice (amber LED, modeling a cranked Marshall JCM/Plexi) to capture Alex Lifeson's 50W Marshall crunch. Since the Champion 20 faceplate lacks a middle EQ knob, push treble to 7 and keep bass around 5 to maintain midrange cut without flubbing the 8-inch speaker. Dial the onboard FX knob to 'SLAP' at around 3 to replicate his signature tape slapback without cluttering the riff. Clean verse arpeggios: roll guitar volume back to 5-6.

PRO TIPPick aggressively near the bridge with heavy downstrokes on the 7/8 intro riff to get the percussive, biting attack that drives the power chords.
