01MXR 6-Band EQ / Parametric EQ
RECOMMENDED — not currently owned. Essential for Dimebag's signature pre-gain mid-boost and post-gain scoop.
02Boss DS-1 or Overdrive
RECOMMENDED — not currently owned. Pushes tight high-gain distortion into a small solid-state amp.
The Freeman G10 is a compact solid-state practice amp with only basic Gain, Bass, and Treble controls (no dedicated Middle, Presence, or Reverb knobs). To mimic Dimebag's razor-sharp solid-state Randall bite on this amp, engage the drive channel, push the Gain to 8, keep Bass moderate at 6 to prevent small-speaker flub, and crank Treble to 9 for the signature aggressive bite. The Gibson Explorer humbuckers deliver thick output, but adding an external EQ pedal or distortion unit later will get you much closer to Dimebag's specific pre-gain frequency shaping.
