01Distortion pedal (Boss DS-1, MT-2, or similar)
RECOMMENDED — not currently owned. Essential for reaching Nailbomb's industrial metal saturation. The Freeman G10 alone cannot produce this level of gain. Keep amp on cleanest setting if using this pedal.
The Freeman G10 is an unrecognized budget practice amp with limited gain on tap. Max Cavalera's tone relies on high-output EMGs into cranked Rectos — your single-coil Strat into a small solid-state amp cannot replicate this without an external distortion pedal. Bass raised to 7 compensates for Strat's thinner low-end vs humbuckers. Mid scooped to 3 captures the industrial metal character. A distortion pedal is mandatory to get anywhere close.
