01MXR Distortion+

This is your primary gain source — Rhoads ran the amp relatively clean and pushed it with the Distortion+

The 500Hz peak is the secret weapon — this mid hump is what makes the tone cut through and sing

Why these settings

Your DSL40CR's Classic Gain channel replicates the JMP preamp topology. I set amp gain LOW (3) because Rhoads ran his Marshall barely breaking up — the Distortion+ does the heavy lifting. The Epiphone's Alnico Classic humbuckers are warmer than Rhoads' T-Tops, so I kept treble at 7 to preserve bite.

PRO TIPRhoads triple-tracked his solos with center/hard-left/hard-right panning — if recording, duplicate the solo track twice at lower volume panned wide for that massive layered sound.
