01Tube Screamer style (TS808/TS9)
RECOMMENDED — not currently owned. Essential for the tight, compressed pick attack. Run into amp input. Drive at 0, used purely as a clean boost to tighten low-end and push the front end.
The SLO-100 has more midrange saturation and smoother compression than the 5150 II's tighter, more aggressive voicing. Dropped mid from the original's 4.5 to 4 because the SLO already has stronger mid presence. Pulled gain from 9 to 6 — the SLO saturates earlier and stays tighter at lower gain settings. Bass dropped from 6 to 5 to prevent low-end mud since the SLO's bottom end is looser than the 5150's. The TS boost is non-negotiable for this tone — it provides the pick definition and low-end tightening that makes modern metalcore chug.
