Why these settings

The SLO-100 is a high-gain monster, but 'Animal' needs the opposite — stay on the clean/crunch channel with gain at 3. The original Rockman/GK tone was extremely compressed and mid-scooped with almost solid-state clarity. Your Schecter's humbuckers are hotter than Collen's DiMarzio Super 3, so rolling tone to 7 prevents harshness. The SLO's naturally aggressive mids need scooping (mid at 4) to get that polished '80s sheen.

PRO TIPPick closer to the bridge with a lighter touch and let the compression do the sustain work — Collen's attack on this track is precise and clipped, not aggressive. If you have a noise gate, use it to tighten note decay between phrases.
