01Ibanez TS9 Tube Screamer
RECOMMENDED — not currently owned (run in front to tighten low end and add fluid sustain)
02Digital Delay (Boss DD-3 / DD-8 style)
RECOMMENDED — not currently owned (run in FX loop set to ~450ms dotted-eighth or quarter-note repeats)
The DSL40CR's Ultra Gain OD1 mode captures the hot-rodded JCM900 lead saturation cleanly without needing an external distortion box. To compensate for the Player Strat's single-coil/bright bridge pickup compared to an HSS humbucker, mids are pushed to 7 while treble and presence are softened to 5 and 4 to avoid harsh high-end fizz. If you acquire a TS9, engage it as a clean boost to tighten the bass and drop amp gain slightly to 6.
