Why these settings

Steve Howe relied on the high-end sparkle of a treble booster hitting cranked Fender amps with his Gibson ES-175. The Champion 40 lacks a dedicated mid knob, so setting Voice to '65 Twin with low gain provides the clean Fender platform while the Klone pushes the upper-mid bite and treble cut to emulate the Dallas Rangemaster. The Ibanez humbuckers are hotter and punchier than vintage PAFs, so the bass is trimmed to 4 to keep the rapid unison lines tight.
