The Champion 25 lacks mid and presence controls, so compensated by raising bass +1 and dropping treble -3 from the Plexi's original 7 treble to prevent the Fender's bright, scooped voicing from turning harsh. The Plexi's voltage-starved sag and warm compression cannot be replicated on a solid-state amp, but Drive channel at gain 7 approximates the pushed-but-singing overdrive. The Champion's lack of phase modulation loses the signature swirl — the Phase 90 recommendation is non-negotiable for authenticity.
