Why these settings

Your Laney LH50 is a British-voiced EL34 amp with more natural mid-presence than the scooped Fender Vibroverb, so I dropped treble from 6 to 5 and pushed mids to 8 to capture that woody Texas thickness. The Laney's gain structure is tighter than a blackface Fender, so gain stays at 4 to preserve dynamics. Without a Tube Screamer, you will get a usable clean tone but lose the signature mid-push and amp-edge compression that defines this recording.

PRO TIPSRV's secret weapon was his brutal .013-.058 string gauge and half-step-down tuning — the string tension and mass gave his tone that weighty, piano-like sustain. If you can handle .011s or heavier and tune to E♭, you'll get significantly closer to that authoritative thump on the low strings.
