RECOMMENDED — not currently owned (run into clean channel with gain at 2 for authentic Dual Rectifier scoop and saturation)
The HB-20R practice amp cannot fully replicate the sheer power and cascaded preamp saturation of a cranked Mesa Dual Rectifier, but setting its overdrive gain to 7 gives the required distortion without totally collapsing into fizziness on an 8-inch speaker. We pull the mid control down to 3 and push treble to 7 to mimic the signature cold, aggressive industrial scoop of Richard Kruspe's rhythm tone. Adding a dedicated high-gain distortion pedal like a Metal Zone or 5150 clone later will bridge the hardware gap completely.
