Why these settings

The Frontman 20G solid-state drive channel gets harsh and fizzy rather than producing May's smooth, singing AC30 compression, so running a dedicated treble booster/amp-in-a-box pedal into the clean channel (gain at 2) is necessary. The 20G features a 3-band EQ, so push the mid knob to 7 to compensate for the Fender scooped midrange while dialing the Telecaster tone back to 7 to tame thin single-coil bite.

PRO TIPBrian May used an English sixpence coin as a pick held loosely between thumb and forefinger; use a heavy rigid coin edge to strike the strings for that distinct raspy metallic attack on sustained bends.
