01Distortion Pedal (Boss DS-1 or similar)

RECOMMENDED — not currently owned. The GM108 cannot reach Dimebag's tight high-gain saturation alone. A DS-1, MT-2, or similar distortion pedal is essential. With this pedal: set amp to Clean channel, gain 2-3, and let the pedal provide all dirt.

Why these settings

The Behringer GM108 is an 8-watt practice amp with limited gain and a small speaker that cannot reproduce the Randall RG-100ES's tight, aggressive saturation. Maxing the OD channel gets you partway there but remains loose and fizzy compared to original. A distortion pedal into the clean channel is the only way to approach Dimebag's chunk. Treble raised slightly vs original to compensate for the GM108's darker voicing; mid scooped harder because the small speaker already lacks low-mid definition.

PRO TIPDimebag's attack came from picking hard directly over the bridge pickup with the pick angled sharply — this adds the percussive 'chink' on palm-muted chugs that defines the Floods riff. Your Jackson's humbuckers will get you close; dig in aggressively.
