Why these settings

The DSL's tube voicing is warmer and mid-forward compared to Dimebag's cold, tight solid-state Randall. Amp set to clean channel because the Metal Muff is the gain source — using the amp's overdrive channel would create mud. GE-7 before the dirt pedal replicates the crucial MXR 6-band V-scoop that defined Dime's tone. Mid dropped to 2 on the amp to compound the scoop. Your SG's humbuckers are hotter than the L-500XL, so the Metal Muff dist stays at 7 rather than maxed.

PRO TIPDimebag's attack came from picking hard directly over the bridge pickup pole pieces with heavy downstrokes — angle your pick slightly and dig in aggressively for that percussive chunk on the palm-muted riffs.
