The Ozzy Osbourne guitar tone for “Crazy train”, dialed in for a Blackstar ID:Core 20 V3 with a Jackson JS22 Dinky. Studio version, Blizzard of Ozz (1980)

Original rig

1974 Gibson Les Paul Custom (bridge pickup) → MXR Distortion+ → MXR Ten Band EQ (500Hz +10, 250Hz +7) → 1975-76 Marshall JMP 1959 Super Lead MkII (Presence: 5, Bass: 2, Middle: 6, Treble: 7, slight overdrive) → Marshall 4x12 cabs with Altec 417-8H speakers

Mid-forward buzzsaw crunch with clarity and bite, distortion from pedals not amp saturation

Why these settings

Original was pedal-driven (MXR Distortion+ into Marshall barely breaking up), so ID:Core OD2 gain stays moderate at 4 to avoid double-saturation; the amp's British voicing models that Marshall character. Mid pushed to 8 (vs original's 6) to compensate for the missing MXR EQ's 500Hz boost, which was the secret weapon of Rhoads' midrange bark. Bass dropped to 3 (vs original's 2) because Jackson humbuckers are warmer than the Les Paul Custom's lower-output Gibsons, and ID:Core's modern voicing is less scooped than a real JMP. Reverb at 0 because the original was bone-dry studio tracked.

PRO TIPRhoads triple-tracked his solos (center panned loud, left/right lower) and used a subtle stereo chorus on rhythms added in the mix—if your ID:Core has onboard modulation, dial in a barely-there chorus (Rate: 3, Depth: 2) on rhythm parts only to thicken the sound without obvious wobble.
