Why these settings

The Rockjam MG 10 is a solid-state practice amp with limited gain and no presence control, so I maxed gain at 8 and compensated by pushing mids to 7 (the MoP tone is NOT scooped—this is a common misconception). Bass is cut hard to 3 because single coils on the Squier will get muddy fast at high gain, and the original Mesa tone had deliberately tight low end. Without a TS-style pedal, your palm mutes will lack definition—this is the single biggest gap in your rig.

PRO TIPTune to E♭ Standard (half step down) to match the recording. Use aggressive downpicking with your pick angled slightly, and rest your palm firmly on the bridge saddles—the MoP tone is 60% technique. If you get the pedal, keep its drive at 1; it's a boost, not a distortion.
