The Frontman's analog solid-state circuit and small speaker cannot replicate a cascading Mesa IIC+ tube saturation, so engage the built-in Drive switch at gain 7 for immediate playability. Keep bass at 6 to prevent the small speaker from farting out on palm mutes while rolling treble back slightly to tame single-coil hiss. Clean interlude: disengage the Drive switch, switch to the neck+middle position, and pick lightly.
