Why these settings

The Fender Frontman is a solid-state practice amp with clean headroom and scooped Fender voicing—it cannot produce Marshall JCM800 preamp saturation. Treble is dropped from the original's 7-8 to 4 because single-coil Strat bridge pickups are ice-pick bright compared to Hetfield's Explorer humbuckers. Mid is dropped further to 2 to compensate for the Frontman's already scooped character. Without a distortion pedal, this tone is unobtainable—the amp settings above assume you acquire one.

PRO TIPPalm mute directly over the bridge saddles, not back toward the soundhole—Hetfield's tight chug comes from aggressive right-hand muting with minimal string ring. Angle your pick slightly and attack hard for that percussive 80s thrash chunk.
