Why these settings

The Vox Pathfinder 10 is a Class A clean platform with minimal preamp distortion capability — it cannot produce the saturated Marshall crunch on its own. Gain is maxed to push the EL84 power tube into breakup. The amp has no mid or presence control; bass is reduced to 4 (vs Marshall's 5.5) because the Vox naturally voices warm and mid-forward, and treble is pulled to 6 (vs Marshall's 7) to avoid the AC-style chime turning harsh. A Tube Screamer-style overdrive pedal is mandatory to supply the missing preamp saturation; set the amp clean and let the pedal do the work.

PRO TIPPick attack is everything here — dig in hard with a 1.0mm+ pick near the bridge pickup to drive the pedal's front end and mimic Slash's aggressive articulation. Roll the guitar's tone knob down to 6-7 on the solo/intro sections for that vocal 'woman tone' quality.
