01Ibanez Tube Screamer TS9
Used as a clean boost to tighten low-end flub before the amp's high-gain stage
02Boss DS-1 Distortion
Bypass (not needed for this tone — TS9 into driven amp provides the correct modern crunch)
The Orange Crush 12 has a naturally dark, thick low-mid voice, so we cut bass to 5 and raise treble to 7 to match the tight, aggressive Soldano bite. The TS9 is set with zero drive and high level into the Orange's own gain stage at 7 to tighten the low-end for down-tuned chugs without double-distorting. The Crush 12 faceplate has only Gain, Overdrive, Bass, Middle, Treble, and Volume, so Presence and Reverb are not present on the panel. For the clean intro and verses, roll your guitar volume back to around 3 or step on the TS9 to bypass it while picking gently.
