Why these settings

The Spider III's Insane Red channel captures the ultra-saturated preamp gain of Synyster Gates's Hellwin/Uberschall rig, but Line 6 gain runs exceptionally hot so it is dialed back to 6. To compensate for single-coil Strat pickups compared to Syn's high-output ceramic humbuckers, bass is boosted to 8 and treble is softened to 5 to avoid thin, ice-pick harshness. The Spider III has no dedicated physical presence knob, so upper harmonics are managed strictly via the treble control.

PRO TIPTune to Drop D and use heavy, locked-wrist downpicking near the bridge saddles to get the tight, percussive chug of the main riff.
