RECOMMENDED — not currently owned; tightens low-end flub and pushes the single-coil Strat into modern metal saturation
The JCM800 2203 lacks the extreme preamp saturation and sub-bass resonance of a Bogner Uberschall/Triple Rectifier, so Preamp Gain is dimed and Bass is raised to 8 for low-end weight. Running single coils requires rolling the Strat's bridge tone down to 8 and keeping Treble and Presence moderate to tame harshness and prevent ice-pick highs. To truly hit modern metal tightness, an overdrive pedal running as a clean boost is strongly recommended to tighten the front end.
