The Hot Rod Deluxe IV is an open-back, vintage-voiced tube combo that naturally scoops mids and cannot fully match the compressed, ultra-saturated wall of a Bogner Uberschall on its own. We engage the More Drive channel with gain pushed hard, boost the mid control to 7 to compensate for the Fender mid-scoop, and roll single-coil treble down on the guitar tone knob to tame the bridge pickup's ice-pick bite. To reach true modern metal saturation, an external high-gain distortion pedal is strongly recommended.
