The StingRay's active humbucker provides great punch, but Squire's clank came from a bridge-pickup Rickenbacker into a cranked Marshall guitar head. We cut amp bass slightly to avoid low-end mud, boost treble and midrange aggressively, and use the Zoom's MS 800 and mild drive block to replicate the bi-amped Marshall crunch. On the StingRay 3-band EQ, boost treble and high-mids slightly while keeping bass neutral.
