Why these settings

The Bandit's TransTube circuit is tighter and more aggressive in the upper mids than a Variac'd Plexi, which sags and compresses warmly. I dropped bass from the original's 5.5 to 4 to prevent mud (Bandit has more low-end punch), pushed mids to 7 to capture the vocal midrange bark Eddie had, and pulled treble and presence down by 1 each to tame the Bandit's harsher top end. Gain at 8 gets you into brown sound territory — the Bandit's saturation is less forgiving than a Plexi but still usable.

PRO TIPThe Variac compression Eddie used is impossible to replicate with a solid-state amp — compensate by backing off your picking attack slightly and letting notes bloom rather than digging in hard. Your ARC300's Super 58 humbuckers are hotter than a vintage PAF, which helps sustain but can get harsh; if the high end bites too much, drop your guitar's volume knob to 8 to smooth it out.
