01Boss DS-2 Turbo Distortion
Gain source — run in Turbo Mode I for classic Marshall-voiced clipping
02MXR EVH117 Flanger
RECOMMENDED — not currently owned; essential for the intro sweep
03Echoplex-style Tape Delay
RECOMMENDED — not currently owned; set around 300ms for subtle slapback space
The Blues Junior IV is a bright, naturally mid-scooped clean-to-crunch Fender platform lacking Marshall-style EL34 high gain, so the owned Boss DS-2 acts as the dedicated gain source into the amp dialed clean at gain 3 with the FAT boost disabled. Amp mids are pushed hard to 8 while treble is pulled down to 5 and the Strat bridge tone is rolled back to 8 to compensate for single-coil shrillness against EVH's PAF humbucker. If you acquire a flanger later, place it before the DS-2 to get Eddie's raw front-of-amp jet-sweep saturation.
