01Tube Screamer / OD808 style overdrive
RECOMMENDED — not currently owned. This is essential for the tight 5150 metal tone. A Behringer TO800, Boss SD-1, or Ibanez TS9 will work. Drive at 0 tightens the low end; Level pushes the amp's front end.
02Noise Gate
RECOMMENDED — not currently owned. Boss NS-2 or ISP Decimator. Place after the OD pedal. Critical for tight palm mutes without noise bleed between chugs.
The Cube 40GX's R-FIER model is voiced after the Mesa Rectifier — close enough to the 5150 character for this tone. Your KH-202 has passive EMG-designed HZ pickups, which are lower output than the active EMGs on the original; compensate by raising gain +1 from where the original sat. The Cube lacks the 5150's tight low-end response, so bass is dropped to 4 to prevent mud. Without an OD808 boost, the tone will feel loose and fizzy — this pedal is non-negotiable for authentic modern Trivium chug.
