Why these settings

The original was cut clean with high headroom on a Fender Twin Reverb using P-90s, so keep the Frontman on its clean channel with gain low to avoid harsh solid-state clipping. Single-coil Squier pickups are brighter and thinner than Krieger's P-90s, so treble is pulled back to 5 and the guitar tone knob is rolled down slightly to round out the high end. Bass is set moderately low at 4 to prevent the small Frontman practice speaker from farting out on low notes.

PRO TIPDitch the pick completely and pluck the strings using the flesh of your thumb and index/middle fingers to capture Robby Krieger's signature soft, flamenco-inspired attack.
