Why these settings

The VT40X uses the DOUBLE REC amp model to mimic modern slammed brutal death metal gain. Mids are pulled down to 1 to capture the extreme Crate GT-200DH/BBE scooped profile, while the TS9 acts as a tight front-end boost (Drive 0, Level 9) so the Jackson JS32 humbuckers deliver instant, chuggy pick response without flubbing out the low end. Note that the VT40X faceplate features a 3-band EQ and lacks a dedicated Presence knob.

PRO TIPPick hard with a heavy, pointed pick (1.5mm+) directly above the bridge pickup, using strict palm-muting to give the ultra-scooped low-end percussive slam rather than muddy wash.
