The V-Mod II neck pickup on your Strat provides the necessary warmth, rolled back slightly on volume (to 8) for the expressive intro and opened to 10 for lead swells. The amp's natural scoop is compensated by bumping the mid EQ to 7 to capture SRV's heavy low-mid punch. For heavier lead passages: roll the guitar volume to 10 and kick on a rotary or vibrato block if desired.
