01Tube Screamer style (TS808/TS9)
RECOMMENDED — not currently owned. Run into amp's clean model to push it into breakup. This is essential to SRV's Texas Flood tone; without it, crank gain to 8 but you'll lose touch sensitivity.
SRV used single coils into a cranked Fender — your Les Paul's humbuckers are hotter and warmer, so treble drops from his 7 to 5 and mid rises from 6 to 7 to recover some of that vocal clarity. The Mustang LT25's 65 Twin model is the closest Fender voice to his Vibroverb. Without a real Tube Screamer in front, you lose the compression and bloom that defined his sustain.
