Why these settings

The MG15 is a solid-state practice amp with limited headroom and a brighter, thinner voicing than a JCM800. I dropped treble to 5 (original was 6-7) to compensate for the MG's inherent brightness and raised mids to 6 to recover the body the JCM800 delivers naturally. Your Jackson JS11 has ceramic humbuckers with similar output to the original Gibsons, so no gain compensation needed there. Without a DS-1, you can push the OD channel gain to 6 for the solo, but it will lack the singing sustain—the DS-1 is the missing piece.

PRO TIPFor the iconic verse arpeggios, use your neck pickup with tone rolled to 7, pick over the neck joint with the fleshy part of your thumb brushing the strings—this softens the attack and gets that warm, choir-like quality Schenker nails on the record.
