01Noise Gate (RECOMMENDED — not owned)
RECOMMENDED — essential for tight palm-muted riffs with dead silence between hits. Boss NS-2 or TC Sentry are affordable options. Without this, your chugs will have hum and sustain bleed.
The MG30GFX is voiced brighter and thinner than a Dual Rectifier, which has massive low-end thump and compressed saturation. I pushed bass +1 and mid +2 versus the original Rectifier settings to compensate for the MG's scooped, fizzy character. Gain stays at 7 because the MG's OD2 channel is less saturated than a Rectifier — you need the extra push. Treble dropped -1 to avoid the Marshall solid-state harshness the Rectifier doesn't have.
