Because you own no dirt pedals, the JCM900 Lead channel must carry the sustain and distortion directly with gain pushed to 7. The Mustang's shorter scale and single-coil pickups produce a naturally brighter, snappier attack than Gilmour's setup, so treble and presence are pulled back while mids are pushed to 7 to replicate the thick Hiwatt/Muff vocal sustain. If you acquire a Big Muff pedal later, switch the amp to the Clean channel with gain at 2 and let the pedal generate the fuzz. First solo / clean sections: switch to the Clean channel and roll the guitar volume down to 7.
