01Tube Screamer-style overdrive (TS9 or clone)
RECOMMENDED — not currently owned. Use as a boost to tighten low-end and add midrange cut. With this pedal: set amp gain to 4-5 instead of 7, keep amp on Brown channel but let the pedal push it
The Katana Mini's Brown channel approximates the Marshall-derived high-gain voicing layered on this record. Original used Mesa Rectifier-style saturation with a TS boost for tightness — your amp lacks that preamp depth, so gain sits at 7 to compensate. Mid is scooped to 4 (the record's palm mutes are tight and modern, not mid-forward). The Katana Mini has no presence or reverb knob — those are nulled. A TS-style pedal is strongly recommended to achieve the focused, cutting attack heard on the track; without it you'll get close but lack the low-end tightness that defines this tone.
