Gibson Les Paul Standard (bridge humbucker) → Ibanez TS9 Tube Screamer → Marshall JCM800 2203 (cranked)
| Knob | Setting (0–10) |
|---|---|
| Gain | 7 |
| Bass | 5 |
| Mid | 7 |
| Treble | 6 |
| Reverb | 1 |
| Master | 6 |
01Tube Screamer (TS9 or clone)
RECOMMENDED — not currently owned. Run into amp's clean channel to replicate Gossard's boosted JCM800 tone. Without this pedal, use the British 80s model with gain at 8 but expect less note definition on palm mutes.
The Mustang LT25's British 80s model approximates a JCM800. Gossard's tone came from a cranked Marshall pushed by a Tube Screamer for tighter low-end — without that pedal, bump gain to 8 but you'll lose some palm-mute clarity. Mid at 7 preserves the Marshall bark; bass at 5 keeps the low-end tight on the smaller speaker.
