Why these settings

The MG15R is solid-state like Dimebag's Randall, which is actually advantageous here — you get similar tight, uncompressed transient response. The MG's OD channel is voiced brighter and thinner than the Randall, so I dropped treble from the original's 9 to 7 and kept mids aggressively scooped at 2. The MG lacks a presence control, so treble at 7 handles upper-mid bite. Without the MXR EQ pedal, you lose some of the extreme V-curve sculpting — this is as close as the amp gets on its own.

PRO TIPThe Rocktron noise gate was essential to Dime's tight stop-start dynamics. Without one, you must mute strings with your fretting hand between every chug to replicate that dead silence between hits. Palm mute hard, directly over the saddles, and use all downstrokes with deliberate space between each hit.
