01MXR 6-Band EQ (M109)
RECOMMENDED — not currently owned. Essential for Dimebag's scooped tone sculpting. Run in front of amp. Boost highs, cut low-mids.
02Noise Gate (ISP Decimator or similar)
RECOMMENDED — not currently owned. Dimebag used tight gating to keep the scooped tone defined and prevent mud.
The JCM800 is mid-forward where the Randall RG-100 is naturally scooped and tighter, so mid is dropped to 2 to replicate Dimebag's V-curve EQ. Your Les Paul's PAF-style pickups are warmer and lower-output than the hot L-500XL, so treble stays at 7 and presence is pulled to 5 to avoid the 800's natural bite becoming ice-picky. Bass is reduced from the original's 6-7 because the 800's low-end is fuller than the Randall's tight solid-state response.
