The owned Boss DS-1 provides the hard-clipping front-end grit of Randy's MXR Distortion+, so the Mustang LT25's 70S ROCK model is kept clean with gain dropped to 2 to prevent muddy double-gain. Because a Telecaster Thinline with single coils lacks the low-mid heft of Rhoads's Les Paul Custom, the internal mid encoder is pushed to 8 and the guitar tone rolled back slightly to tame excess single-coil spank.

PRO TIPPick aggressively near the bridge saddles using heavy downstrokes to emulate Randy's tight, percussive articulation and bring out the signature upper-mid harmonic squeal.
